SummerSlam: Every Brock Lesnar Match, Ranked From Worst To Best
SummerSlam is a seasonal staple where wrestlers like Brock Lesnar get to shine on stage. Here are his best and worst SummerSlam matches ranked.
SummerSlam has consistently featured Brock Lesnar since his return in 2012, and he has always been placed in big match situations. His feuds with Seth Rollins and John Cena have headlined many summer events, with each being legitimate marquee matches. Some have been better than others, but few can argue that Lesnar has been a big box office draw for WWE.

Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns Wrestlemania
102012 – Brock Lesnar Vs Triple H
Out of all the feuds following Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE, his feud with Triple H was the most undesirable to fans. Following numerous “broken arms” on the path to SummerSlam 2012, these two fought in a match that would not be as one-sided as future matches but was not something fans wanted to see.
Following this match, Lesnar would leave WWE for an extended period of time and Triple H would feign retirement. Their match at WrestleMania would be much better, but this one is low on the legacy of both men.
92016 – Brock Lesnar Vs Randy Orton
Despite having one of the most shocking endings in recent WWE history, this match left much more to be desired. Watching Randy Orton bloodied and knocked out in the ring was certainly a sight to behold, and had fans and wrestlers confused (including Chris Jericho).
Prior to the knockout finish, the match itself did not have much to behold as it consisted of Lesnar dominating Orton. Combine this with the fact that they did not continue their feud after this shocking result, and it makes the match feel like even less.
82017 – Brock Lesnar Vs Braun Strowman Vs Roman Reigns Vs Samoa Joe
Getting to see talent like Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe gets a shot at the Universal Championship in 2017 was a breath of fresh air. However, fans were used to seeing Lesnar in big-time matchups at SummerSlam, and this one just did not have that type of atmosphere. All four men gave it their all, but it was just not in the same league as some of Lesnar’s other marquee matches since his return.
72018 – Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns
A lot has been written about Roman Reigns’ ascension to the main event level of WWE, but there is little doubt that his win over Lesnar for the Universal Championship was a big moment for his career. Lesnar’s 504-day reign as Universal Champion has yet to be broken, but Reigns began his first one by dethroning him. Reigns’ title run would be cut short due to his battle with leukemia, but this match was one of his best.
62015 – Brock Lesnar Vs The Undertaker
Apart from the hilarious view of The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar laughing at each other in the ring, this bout between two legendary heavyweights in the ring was fairly lackluster. With a finish involving The Undertaker winning via low-blow, it unfortunately left more to be desired than their WrestleMania and Hell in the Cell encounters.
The match between these two was hard-hitting as usual, and while it did set up a third encounter between them, fans were certainly looking for more when it came to the fight.
52003 – Brock Lesnar Vs Kurt Angle
Following Lesnar’s spectacular rookie year in WWE, he had a long-term feud with Kurt Angle where they would have some of their best matches together. Following the main event of WrestleMania XIX, they would trade the WWE Championship back and forth. This match was their third pay-per-view face-off, and would set the tone for what the Smackdown brand was known for in 2003 – great wrestling.
42019 – Brock Lesnar Vs Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins’ ascent to the top tier of WWE has been intertwined with Brock Lensar for several years. Rollins has been at the top of his game for several years now, but watching him conquer Lesnar again for the Universal Championship – which few others have been able to do – was very satisfying for fans. By defeating Lesnar once again, Rollins solidified himself as the top guy, and has maintained that status.
32014 – Brock Lesnar Vs John Cena
WWE fans were used to seeing “Big Match John” dominate opponents in WWE Championship situations. However, Brock Lesnar is one wrestler who was able to severely change the course of John Cena’s career by absolutely decimating him at SummerSlam 2014.
Fans had expected a competitive match-up, but they were treated to over 15 German Suplexes by Lesnar, and Cena struggling to gain his footing. Something like this had never happened before, and was surely a spectacle for everyone in attendance.
22013 – Brock Lesnar Vs CM Punk
As one of Punk’s last big feuds before his WWE departure, the feud between Lesnar and Punk involved two “Paul Heyman guys” going at it in a No Disqualification match. Fans were solidly behind Punk and wanted him to conquer the monster. However, despite the use of weapons and brawling, Punk was not able to pick up the win due to Heyman getting involved. Despite the size difference, Punk took Lesnar to the limit and put up a hell of a fight.
12002 – Brock Lesnar Vs The Rock
To cap off one of the greatest rookie years in WWE history, Brock Lesnar faced a WWE legend for his first WWE Championship opportunity. Labeled as “The Next Big Thing”, Lesnar tore through competition on route to facing The Rock at SummerSlam, and he was able to live up to his moniker. With many more championships to come, this one was among the sweetest because it was a true passing of the torch from one generation to another.
