WWE star Paige, who was injured after receiving a kick from Sasha Banks in a six-woman tag team match on December 27, 2017, which kept her from competing at the Royal Rumble, says she’s looking forward to returning to the ring after recovering from her neck injury.

“Recycled pic. But.. Spent the last 2 years of my in-ring career with this neck brace. 6 screws and 2 fusions later.. my neck feels wonderful. Can you let me in yet coach?” she tweeted on Friday.

In March, she addressed the possibility of an in-ring return, saying, “I think it is always a possibility one day, you can never say never. It’s not going to be any time soon. That’s mostly all I can say about it, it’s really hard because I just had a neck surgery in August. My neck is just getting healthier quicker the second time around which is crazy. I feel absolutely fantastic. We’ll see where it goes.”

Paige is not the only wrestler to overcome a neck injury and return to the ring. Earlier this year, Edge returned to the ring at the 2020 Royal Rumble match after retiring in April 2011 due to several neck injuries. Also, Daniel Bryan returned two years ago at WrestleMania 34 after suffering multiple concussions and a brain lesion, which forced him to retire in 2016.

Despite her injury, Paige has been a fixture at WWE for the past two years, acting as the commissioner of SmackDown Live, managing Asuka and Kairi Sane, aka the Kabuki Warriors, and contributing for WWE’s studio show WWE Backstage.

On March 20, she returned to SmackDown via Skype to confront SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks, where she announced that Bayley would defend her title in a six-way elimination match at WrestleMania 36.
