Mandy Rose looked to be eliminated early on in the women’s Royal Rumble match but was saved by Otis who appeared out of nowhere.

As opposed to this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match, WWE left most of the spots in the women’s match empty heading into the show. That left room for plenty of surprises from returning stars, legends, and NXT entrants. At the time of typing this, the match is still ongoing, but there have already been plenty of welcome shocks.

One entrant who did not come as a surprise when her music hit was Mandy Rose, as well as her Fire & Desire tag team partner Sonya Deville. Prior to the match, Deville revealed that if they were the final two competitors in the match, she would throw herself over the top rope. A very sweet gesture but luckily for the good friends, it didn’t come to that.

Rose and Deville wound up being eliminated in quick succession. An adoring Otis managed to catch Rose when she was thrown from the match, but both of them were knocked over when Deville quickly followed her out. On the bright side for Rose, her night would have come to an end a lot sooner if it hadn’t have been for the first time Otis came to the rescue.
